License and copyright notice

This License and Copyright Notice (“Notice”) governs the use of all articles published in the Journal of Sustainable Technology in Agriculture (JOSTA), the journal website, and the formatted materials produced by the publisher.

1. Copyright ownership

  1. Copyright for each article published in JOSTA remains with the respective author(s). No transfer of copyright to the journal or publisher is required.
  2. By publishing in JOSTA, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive right to publish, host, and distribute the article under the license specified in Section 2.

2. Article license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)

  1. All articles published in JOSTA are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license.
  2. This license applies to the full text of all published articles, including supplementary material designated as part of the article.
  3. Under this license, users are permitted to:
    • read, download, copy, distribute, print, and link to the article;
    • use the article for lawful, non-commercial purposes; and
    • share the article in its original, unmodified form, with appropriate attribution.
  4. Users are not permitted to:
    • create derivative or adapted versions of the article;
    • use the article, in whole or in part, for commercial purposes.

3. Open access policy

  1. JOSTA is a fully open-access journal. All articles are made freely available online immediately upon publication, without subscription fees or access charges.
  2. Users may access and use the published content for any lawful, non-commercial purpose without prior permission, subject to the terms of the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.
  3. This open-access policy is aligned with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) .

4. Permitted use and reuse

  1. Subject to Section 2, users may:
    • share the article in its original, unaltered form;
    • use the article for teaching, learning, and non-commercial research;
    • link to or cite the article in scholarly and professional works.
  2. All reuse must include clear attribution to the author(s) and to JOSTA as the publishing journal.

5. Layout, branding, and formatted versions

  1. The design, layout, and branding of the JOSTA website and formatted PDF versions are the copyrighted property of PAPAYA Academic Press (Statoberry LLP) .
  2. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • website templates, structure, and styling;
    • journal typography, cover design, and page layout;
    • logos, icons, and visual identity elements;
    • formatted or typeset PDF versions produced by the journal.
  3. These rights do not restrict the reuse of article content under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.

6. Commercial use, translations, and reprints

  1. Commercial reuse, translation, reprinting, or redistribution of formatted or branded journal materials requires prior written permission from the publisher.
  2. Requests for such permissions should be directed to:

  3. These restrictions apply only to formatted and branded materials and do not alter the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license granted for the article content.

7. Archiving and preservation

  1. All published articles are permanently archived in Zenodo under the dedicated JOSTA community: Zenodo – JOSTA Community .
  2. Zenodo provides long-term digital preservation using CERN’s secure data infrastructure to ensure persistent access to published content.
  3. JOSTA articles are also indexed in OpenAIRE, supporting global discoverability and compliance with open-science mandates.
